Heartburn Relief Through Natural Remedies

When you have heartburn, food may seem like your worst enemy. However, a lot of home remedies are derived from your kitchen.

Bicarbonate of soda can be used for relief by consuming a half-teaspoon of baking soda in a one-half glass of water and drink. It may not taste that great, but a lot of people assert this works. Although this may seem unusual, you will get relief if you mix 1 tablespoonful of apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoonful of honey and 1 cup of warm water. You may think anything that contains vinegar is going to hurt, but if you consume it at the first sign of heartburn it can have an excellent positive effect.

Drinking a glass of buttermilk is believed to work wonders, just be sure not to confuse it with regular milk, which can be an acid producer. Another conventional remedy for acid relief is cinnamon. Brew a cup of cinnamon tea using cinnamon sticks and drink up. Eating a couple of slices of cinnamon toast while drinking the tea gives an extra advantage.

How about another use for ginger; take a cup of water and add 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger root and simmer for 10 minutes and drink as needed. Even sage used in tea will settle down that acid feeling.

Not necessarily remedies, but a few tips to remember is to eat up smaller meals, eat slowly and chew thoroughly. Do not eat right prior to bedtime giving your stomach a two-hour break. And once in bed try sleeping with your head lifted up on a couple of pillows.
