Learn to Rewrite Your Thoughts to Conquer Fear

The key to Rewriting the Fear is the knowledge that your body reacts to what you believe, not to some absolute outside reality. If you believe that something is threatening, your body reacts with fear. Convince yourself that the situation isn’t harmful or dangerous and your body won’t react with fear. It all depends on what you believe about the situation.
That’s easier said than done. Or is it? You don’t want to lie to yourself, and you don’t have to. Our experience of the world is highly influenced by how we interpret things. And if we put our minds to it, we can always come up with an alternate interpretation of our experience. So the most basic approach to Rewriting the Fear is to simply rethink how you are interpreting what’s going on. Don’t simply assume that the negative first impression you came up with is the absolute truth about the situation. Instead, come up with other plausible interpretations that fit the facts, but aren’t negative for you. Let’s look at an example of what I mean.
Your best friend snarls at you and walks away when you ask how their day has been. You can interpret this in the worst possible light and become afraid that your friend doesn’t like you anymore. But their behavior doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with you, and you can choose to interpret it differently. Maybe they had a fight with their significant other. Maybe their car broke down. Maybe they’re sick. Their behavior doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with you or your friendship.
If you choose to learn more about Rewriting the Fear, you’ll find that there are even ways to take this further and turn a negative-seeming situation into a positive one. When you explore alternate interpretations of the situation (by rewriting your fear) your fear will fade as you see all the brighter possibilities inherent in the situation.
