Hypnosis is beneficial for a myriad of conditions, problems, addictions and for self-improvement purposes. Reticent memories are recovered in the patients of mental problem with the help of hypnosis and this is very helpful. Normal behavior of people changes when they subconsciously suppress painful memories of trauma and pain which can lead to mental disorder. With the help of hypnosis the patient is able to remember the suppressed memories which could have been the cause of the mental problem they are suffering from.
For example, during the First and Second World Wars, soldiers developed mental health disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, due to their experiences. Some doctors used hypnosis to help these soldiers remember and then relive these memories in order to get rid of built-up emotional tension. Consequently, many soldiers were able to recover their mental health.
It has to be understood by patients that through the accidental suggestions of the doctors there are chances of developing false memories. Thus hypnosis is considered to be a highly questionable and debatable form of therapy.
Hypnosis cures patients in different ways one such being the ability to remove all pain associated with the disorder. This is done by calming down the patients who have been highly affected. A complete feeling of calmness and intense relaxation and feeling of well being are associated with the process of hypnosis. What patients do is that they become aware of their thoughts and thus change their attitude and acquire new methods of dealing with different problems, and thus ultimately become relieved of their anxiety, stress and depression.
Nowadays many doctors and professional see the benefits of this method to help cure mental disorders and thus are accepting this technique.
